with Graham Coats, Sales Director at CMC to see how adding

NED: WHAT IS AIRMATICS AND WHAT INDUSTRY/WORKERS
WILL USE IT?
GC: AIRMATICS is a simple, cloud-based air compressor monitoring, performance, and control solution that provides real-time
data, analytics, and insights at the push of a button and can
reduce compressor-related energy consumption by up to 30%.
It is the latest creation from CMC and has been designed to provide 360-deg. visibility over an entire network of air compressor
assets—regardless of their age or brand.
It can dramatically reduce air compressor energy usage,
minimize a plant’s carbon emissions, and reduce wear and tear
of its air compressor assets by making sure that they only run
at the optimum level, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365
days a year. It has been designed to give the user full control by
offering them all the intelligence and insights relating to each
and every air compressor that they could ever need. As a result,
dependence on the manufacturer is signifcantly reduced.
NED: WHAT ARE THE MAIN FEATURES?
GC: AIRMATICS is an end-to-end solution. Through its asset
tagging products, which include AIR-TAG and SMART-TAG, we’ve
created a brand and age-agnostic solution that monitors the
health and performance of one or multiple air compressor assets. However, the UNITAG and COMMAND & CONTROL products
monitor the health and performance of the entire compressed
air system—all from one AIRCLOUD interface. Users can remotely
monitor and manage a group of connected assets from anywhere
onsite—even if that onsite location isn’t local to the air compressor
station. However, control adjustments cannot be made offsite.
The system reduces wear and tear of each and every asset by
ensuring that performance never exceeds system requirements
at any given moment. It also decentralizes decision-making by
automatically making the best decision for a plant’s air compressor
system and reduces time spent manually on issue diagnostics
Finally, in an age where “big data” means everything, AIRMATICS provides a full overview of a business’s air compressor
system and helps manufacturers make decisions based on
real-time insights and intelligence.
NED: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FEATURE AND WHY?
GC: It has to be the performance-monitoring feature, which
enables manufacturers and plants to accurately measure the
power in and fow out.
Take white goods, for example. Consumers know and understand the performance of the dishwasher they have bought as it
clearly explains its performance rating. This is absent—or extremely
technical, at the very least—in the world of air compressors,
the result of which means that those charged with managing
them often don’t fully know how effcient they really are.
With AIRMATICS, users can accurately measure and easily
understand the true performance of each and every compressor asset they run by establishing the power in, against the
volume of air out. In doing this, every compressor becomes
accountable. Manufacturers can clearly see what compressor
products are providing the most return, how compressor A
compares with compressor B, and what compressors perform
best for certain functions.
NED: HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT THAN SIMILAR PRODUCTS ON
GC: We believe that CMC is the only manufacturer to provide
this level of accountability when it comes to air compressor
monitoring and performance. Not only that, but AIRMATICS is the
only product to aggregate data from air compressors of different
ages and brands and converts it into easily digestible insights
and intelligence for the end user to action.
We also believe that AIRMATICS is the only product on the
market that can manage an infnite number of air compressors.
NED: WHEN WAS IT DEVELOPED AND WHAT SPECIFIC
MANUFACTURING CHALLENGES IS IT MEANT TO SOLVE?
GC: A team of specialists at CMC’s headquarters in Belgium
have been developing and refning AIRMATICS over the last two
years and we’ve only just taken it to market.
We wanted to create a product that facilities managers, energy
consultants or even owners of manufacturing facilities could use
to tangibly reduce wastage, increase proftability, and cut carbon
emissions. We also wanted to provide air compressor users with
a simple way in which to meet Industry 4.0 requirements in the
most cost-effective, sustainable, and quickest way possible.
From a more detailed perspective, we wanted to provide users
with a way in which to fully understand and break down the cost
of air per compressor per each unit manufactured. Only when
manufacturers do this can they truly know the cost of their air
compressors and then make decisions based on this level of insight.
