CONVERSATION IN THE CROSSHAIRS:
WORKPLACE AND SCHOOL VIOLENCE
2020 KEYNOTE SESSION
“We are going to all die today.” On August
20, 2013, Antoinette Tuff, a schoolbookkeeper, heard those words and made alife changing choice. Rather than run in fearfrom a potential school shooter waving anAK-47 assault rifle, she chose to stay andnegotiate.
Antoinette used “Tuff Tactics: Compassion,Confidence, and Control” to convince theshooter to put down the weapon andsurrender. That day she saved more than
1,000 lives at the Ronald E. McNair DiscoveryLearning Academy in the Atlanta metro area.
This is the only school active shootersituation in the U.S. that ended without deathor injury to school students, faculty, parentsor shooter himself.
