Taking up only 42 ft2 of foor space, the S-EW3, a 5-axis servo motor EDM (Electrical Discharge Machine), combines
several key features including compact space, approach control, corner control, auto threader, and training software.
The machine eliminates wire breaks on lead-in cutting with programmable reduced power settings and also features
automatic adjustment to power settings and feed rate to improve corner accuracy.
Regarding the CNC controller, it features a Windows embedded operating system, an independently developed CNC
control device, a 15-in. Color LCD, a 64-bit industrial computer, and a memory card with a capacity of 2GB CF.
The discharge power supply has high speed voltage withstanding MOSFET, a modular design discharge power unit, and
real-time sparking pulse control.
S-EW3 provides a 5-axis linear guide way, 5-axes AC servo motors, ball screws (grade X/Y C1, U/V C3, Z C5), high stability
mechanical structure, and a reliable AWT system.
VIBRATION CONTROL FOR CNC TOOLS
Designed virtually eliminate tool head vibration, the accelerometer-based Active Vibration Control
system for CNC machine tools increases productivity by maximizing material removal rate (MRR) and
provides valuable real-time feedback for predictive maintenance purposes.
The system is a cost-effective solution that provides unprecedented dynamic damping capabilities.
The accelerometer is sampled every 100 microseconds, which means that it can be used for closed
loop control at bandwidths approaching several hundreds of Hertz.
The small, fange-mounting accelerometer transducer can easily be attached to the machine’s tool head and has a sensitivity of 0.02 g, with a measurement range of
+/- 2 g. The transducer connects directly to the digital servo drive, removes the need for any additional signal conditioning circuitry.
The system is available as a retrofttable option for any machine tool that uses NUM’s MDLUX high performance digital servo drives.
Using the drive embedded macros (DEM-X) option that is available on the MDLUX, the system enables real-time macros to be embedded within the drive to manipulate
its regulation algorithms. The output signal from the transducer can then be used to directly infuence the behavior of the speed servo control loop. All MDLUX modules
use advanced DSP control techniques to maximize the CNC kernel-to-drive servo bus speed and feature high loop bandwidths and special acceleration algorithms for
the best speed and positioning accuracy.

soft drop-probe rod for accurate template development, prior to forming the steel

2 guarding device and reduces the potential for operators bypassing their guarding.
Drop-probe devices work by gravity: When a probe drops and encounters a fnger
or workpiece in its way, the probe will not complete its downward travel and the machine will not start a cycle or stroke. A spring returns the probe to its starting or up
position. The integration of a keyed aluminum drop-shaft clamp and a hexagonal, rigid steel drop probe into the Gen II improves the reliability of the operation, minimizing
unplanned downtime and creating a safer work environment.
