A ready-to-connect 7th axis allows a robot to move over a distance of severalmeters and includes a maintenance-free drylin ZLW toothed belt axis with a corresponding adapter plate, switch cabinet, cables, and software integration. Foreasy integration of the axis and the robot, igus has developed two adapter kits forrobolink and UR robots to enable fast and cost-effective low-cost automation.
Specifically, for linear adjustment, igus has developed a lubrication-free, lightweight flat axis with a stroke of up to 6 m and a positioning accuracy of 0.5 mm withthe help of its drylin linear construction kit. To ensure that the axis can be easilycombined with a robot, igus offers overall solutions for UR3, UR5, and UR10 robots(Universal Robots), robolink DP robots, and DCi robots.

CUSTOMIZED AUTOMOTIVE PAINTING
Fifty percent faster and more sustainable, PixelPaint uses an inkjet head to eliminate
overspray, ensuring two-tone paint and individual designs are applied in one pass, without
masking and de-masking.
Previously, applying a two-tone or customized design onto bodywork was a time andlabor-intensive process that required the vehicle to be put through the painting line twice,once for the first layer and then, after the areas had been masked, again for the secondcolor. Typically, masking the bodywork required around 10 to 20 operators per shift, withtwo operators also needed to de-mask it after the second color had been applied.
PixelPaint solution incorporates a high painting inkjet head, dosing control package, andeasy to use RobotStudio programming software for two-tone and decorative painting applications. Pixelpaint is available as a cell using two ABB IRB 5500 robots. The non-overspraytechnology prints paint directly onto a target area using the printing nozzle head insteadof spraying with a conventional atomizer, resulting in 100% transfer efficiency.

INCREASES SHOP CAPACITY
To address capacity shortfalls and labor shortages, the FastLOAD CX1000
collaborative expandable robotic cell offers freedom and flexibility to work-
ers on the shop floor.
To prevent shop equipment from sitting idle, the FastLOAD CX1000 ismounted on a mobile platform that one worker can move easily so it can bequickly set up at different machines around the shop. The system is fittedwith a FANUC 10KG, 120V collaborative robotic arm to master material handling tasks. It can be outfitted with up to three modular carts to handle awide variety of parts or allow more parts in the queue.
A touch screen interface makes programming very simple and setup takeshours, not days. The cobot has a small footprint and doesn’t require safetyfencing, so it takes up approximately 80% less floor space than a traditionalrobotic cell. Operators work beside the FastLOAD CX1000 to load and unloadparts while the robot works continuously on up to two machines, thus doubling throughput.
